Help Needed Identifying This Equestris Clade Anole

K. Rs, after correctly identifying the eye in this morning’s post as belonging to A. fraseri, posed a question of his own: “Could someone please tell me what the anole in the picture is. The photo is from Cuatrok 77′s flickr page but there is no species identification. It looks to be from the equestris group and is probably a subspecies of Anolis noblei, equestris or luteogularis. I am seeking to upload the photo to Wikimedia Commons and any help in it’s identification would be greatly appreciated.

Is there any info on where the image was taken? That would answer the question easily.
In lue of that inforamtion and based on the tree in which it is perched (looks like a quercus) I would say it is from a semi xeric habitat and go with A. luteogularis nivevultus or jaumei. My second attempt would be a young A.equestris verreonensis. That species can have a lot of white.

Unfortunately Cuatrok 77 didn’t include any information on where the image was taken, however it is worth noting that his photostream also includes several photos of regular Anolis equestris which may have been taken in the same area.Sadly this isn’t necessarily reliable as he also has pictures of animals from florida (where A.equestris is also found) such as Basiliscus vittatus an various butterflies. Perhaps the pattern of green bands on its white dorsal surface and it’s head (smaller than most equestris I have seen, though as you said this may be a juvenile. ) may serve as some form of identification. Thanks for your comment by the way,it has definitely brought me a little closer to making a positive id

it looks ike you were right Joe,Irecently found this photo of an Anolis equestris online (http://www.terra-dom.de/tierfotos/reptilien/leguane/) which, while not a perfect match, comes pretty darn close.
