Anole biologist and phylogenetic comparative methods wizard Liam Revell has shamelessly used a photo of Anolis evermanni just so we would advertise his three-week field biology course in Puerto Rico to be held next January. And you know what? It worked: the field-based course in tropical biology – focusing on ecology, evolution, and conservation biology – will be offered for the first time in January 2013 during the UMass Boston winter session (and hopefully annually thereafter). We would love to enroll students from universities other than UMass Boston in this course. Unfortunately, for many universities the dates of the course (and our winter session), Jan. 4-25, conflict with the start of the spring semester. If your university has a winter break that is so timed as to allow students the opportunity of participating in this course (in other words, if spring semester starts on or after the 25th of January, 2013), I would love to hear about it – regardless of whether or not you have any interest in enrolling (by email). That way I can know to try and advertise this course on your campus.
