Some Cool Anole Photos

Not sure how I came across these on the web, but I found Robert Hoogveld’s flickr page and he kindly allowed me to post these fabulous photos. Some may recall the post on Robert’s article on A. proboscis two years ago. Apparently, he has some more good stuff up his sleeves, or so he tells me.

Wow — what great photos! I wish mine were half as good. AND beautiful subjects.
    Where were these taken?

    • Guadeloupe, Hispaniola, and Dominica – in that order.

The marmoratus near the Carbet Falls (les Chutes du Carbet). The barbouri is a captive bred I have had in a terrarium and the oculatus was found near the Indian River. Beautifull anoles in that region!

  2. Gorgeous: know them all well from my misspent youth as a lizard hunter!… Skip

That oculatus has a tail crest like a cristatellus: any proposed function for that? Is it sexually dimorphic enough to be sexually selected?
