Says Cabela’s: “the merchandise is out of stock and we will not be getting it in till the spring of next year.”
What is up with these guys? Has every reader of Anole Annals recently ordered 100?

Take a look at Bass Pro Shop’s Black Widow, a telescoping rod that extends up to 10′ to 20′ depending on model.

The Black Widow is a fine instrument, and used to be state-of-the-art. In fact, I recently bought several as a back-up when panfish poles were unavailable. Their one main drawback is that they don’t telescope down to pocket size, like the panfish poles do. On the other hand, they are sturdier and thus less prone to breakage.

With all the touting of the excellence of thee poles on this website, yes I expect everyone ordered 100! Damned by success. LOL

We ordered 24 when they came back on the market. Seeing how many noose poles my Ph.D. student Kristin is taking in the field this Sunday, I have just ordered 10 more of the 12′ variety (the only size presently showing as in stock).

Perhaps a blackmarket will develop? Or maybe somebody will finally figure out a way to fix broken tips?
